4 Week Healthy Living Kickstart

Beginnings can be rough. They’re exciting and full of promise, yeah, but they can also be daunting. I feel like this can be especially true when it comes to a lifestyle change. Committing to “healthy living”, for example, doesn’t sound super fun if it means focusing on all of the extra workouts you have to do and all of the yummy things you cannot eat. It doesn’t have to be that way, though! You can take four, itty-bitty baby steps into the world of health and wellness over the course of a month that can spur massive change. Sound appealing?! Well, it starts with food. Nutrition is a major part of feeling and looking good, so instead of making crazy, extreme, overwhelming dietary changes, we’ll focus on food (or more specifically, what goes into your body!) and work on cleaning up your intake in a way that is pretty painless, but seriously beneficial. Whether you’re looking to get back on track or are just starting out with living healthy, embracing these tasks will have you feeling healthy and well in no time! Here’s your roadmap for kicking off a healthy life. (more…)

#WhistleFit! My Review of the Whistle GPS Pet Tracker

Let’s talk pups. My dogs, Phillip and Chauncey, are the absolute loves of my life. I waited nearly 22 years before getting my first furry pet, and Phillip, my five-year-old bichon-shih tzu mix is quite literally the best gift I’ve ever received. Since I’m pretty much your standard crazy dog lady, I was crazy excited when Fit Approach gave me the opportunity to partner with Whistle for their Whistle Fit campaign. Since I’ve spent the past few weeks being extra active with my boys and playing around with the Whistle GPS Pet Tracker, I thought that now would be the perfect time to share my review of the awesome device with you guys! (Plus, I have a coupon code and a giveaway for you, too.) Wanna get #WhistleFit with your pet?! Read on! Here are all of the details. (more…)

Guys. It’s the 21st. We’re almost done with October. Know what that means?!? I’m almost done with #TIU31! Committing to this  challenge this month has been paramount in my getting back on track with a consistent fitness regimen, and I’m feeling stronger and healthier than I have in awhile.  It’s pretty great. 🙂 Missed out on getting involved this time around? No worries. There’s only one real week left of the challenge, but K&K have recently become notorious for repeating their challenges back-to-back, so there’s a pretty decent chance that #TIU31 round two will be coming up sooner rather than later. If you’ve been wary about committing to a month-long fitness challenge because you’re concerned that it might not be doable for whatever reason, don’t be! Just jump in. Here are four ways I modified the Tone It Up 31 Day Challenge to work for me…maybe these mods will work for you, too! (more…)

Taking On #TIU31

You guys. I am so excited for October. Why? Because I’m ready to Tone It Up! On the first of the month, TIU is launching their fall challenge, TIU31…It’s Frisky Fall, reimagined! In the words of K&K, TIU31 is “for the busy girl who wants to take care of her body. She wants structure but flexibility, and she wants to feel confident in herself, her decisions and her body.” Sounds good, right? (more…)

Fitness Friday: A Workout Retrospective

The Ultimate Workout Review and Experience Post

When it comes to working out, I feel like I’m one of those people who has done it all. I’ve dabbled in spinning, hot yoga, barre, HIIT, pole fitness, kickboxing, and circuit training. I’ve had both cheap and high-end gym memberships, sweated it out in my living room to exercise DVDs and YouTube videos, and taken group fitness classes. I’m notoriously fickle and I love a good fitness trend, so I’ve experimented with a lot of exercise modalities. These days, I pretty much do my own thing in order to in shape…I’ve found that a combination of running, barre, and random “toning” routines make me feel good and give me a look that I like. This wasn’t always the case, though! In fact, it took me quite awhile to discover what worked for me–what I enjoyed doing, what I could stick with,  and what gave me results. Let’s revisit some of my favorite workout phases from the last three years or so, shall we?! Here’s a rundown of four programs/methods/systems I experimented with, with no-holds-barred commentary on each. Find out what I loved, what I hated, what completely bored me to tears, and what gave me the best results. Curious? I know you are! 😉 I’m spilling it all here. (more…)

How To Get Motivated to Work Out When You’re Just Not Feeling It

Sustained Workout Motivation How To

This summer seems to have been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for many of us. It sucks (duh), but I find some comfort in knowing that it’s actually a widely shared experience at the moment–from bloggers I read to, ladies I follow on Instagram, to friends and family members alike, the past few months have been an absolute whirlwind–something is off all around. While I don’t have specific tips on busting out of a personal or emotional rut, I do know that movement and getting in touch with your body can provide a temporary respite to craziness, and can leave you with long-lasting feelings of confidence and sanity. I also know, though, that when things are feeling out of control–or even just not ideal, finding the motivation to move your bod can be a serious task. One thing I do have tips on is how to deal with THAT: finding ways to stay motivated with your fitness routine and healthy lifestyle. If you’re feeling like you’re off track, in a rut, or are generally uninspired with your workouts, this is for you. Here are a few ways to stay motivated, and to reignite your passion for working out.  (more…)
