Fun fact: I am OBSESSED with baths. For me, there’s nothing more soothing, indulgent, or relaxing as a nice long soak in an oversized whirlpool tub. Pure perfection. I have a soaking solution for every mood, from essential oils (relaxed and sultry) to bubbles (playful, happy) to Epsom salt (sore, bloated). I’ve experimented with ginger, baking soda, and a myriad of natural bath products, but it never crossed my mind to try adding apple cider vinegar to my brew until I stumbled across this image on Pinterest.
After a little research (read: compulsive googling) I found out that ACV has major beauty and detoxification benefits: it lessens inflammation, softens skin, can aid in fighting infection, and rids the body of excess uric acid. Basically, it’s the ultimate cleanse! Seeing as I had accidentally purchased the wrong kind of ACV (organic, but the one without the ‘mother’) for my Bombshell Spell, I had almost an entire bottle of the stuff to experiment with. I drew an extra-warm bath and happily dumped the bottle’s contents. Result? SWEAT. If you’ve ever downed a shot of ACV, you know that the liquid is famous for the lovely
BURN glow it produces from within…Bathing in it has a similar effect. I’ll be honest–when you’re taking this bath, it’s not the most soothing experience. It’s rather tiring, just on the edge of uncomfortable. But! Once you’re out, you feel cozy and sleepy, perfect if you’re about to go to bed. In the morning, I woke up feeling fresh, invigorated, and healthy. No soreness, puffiness, or dull skin to speak of. It was amazing! Want to take your own ACV detox bath? Here’s how it’s done!
TSB Bombshell Bath: Apple Cider Vinegar Detox Soak!
- 1-2 cups organic apple cider vinegar
- Bottle of water to sip on during your soak
Run your bath water as warm as you’d like – the hotter, the better! Pour in apple cider vinegar. Soak for 20-40 minutes. Since you’ll lose some water through the sweating this solution produces, it’s a good idea to have a bottle of water on hand to rehydrate. Also, cold drinking water helps to cool from within as the bath heats you up, making the entire process a bit more comfortable. Drink another glass of water when you’re finished bathing. As I mentioned above, it’s best to end your day with this bath as it will leave you feeling rather drained. By the next morning, though, you should find yourself energized, refreshed, and glowing!
My advice? Pick up some ACV this afternoon and take a bath tomorrow night. It’s the perfect way to prep for the week ahead!
