…and I’m NOT talking makeup.

The title of this post probably sounds incredibly vain and stupid, but there is definitely a case to be made for looking and feeling pretty before going to bed. Pampering is an excellent form of self-care, and adding just a few new tools to your typical nighttime routine can make a major impact on how you look and feel. Go to sleep pretty, wake up pretty! It’s really as simple as that. Here’s what you need to look and feel cute before going to bed!

  • Perfume.

Perfume

A spritz or two of your favorite soft scent just seems SO glam, right? Pick your favorite spray or apply a lightly-scented body lotion before slipping under your sheets. I love waking up to a bed that smells like my favorite scented products!

Hot picks: Burberry Brit, Ralph Lauren Romance, L’Occitane ‘Citrus Verbena’ Summer Fragrance,  Philosophy Falling In Love.

  • Rosebud Salve.

RosebudSalve

Smith’s Rosebud Salve is one of my holy-grail beauty products, because it’s actually awesome for everything. Cuticles, lips, cheeks, all of it. Smooth a little bit of the wonder product on your brows before bed to keep everything cute and in place. Bonus: if you put a little on your fingertips and blink into them, you’ll have super pretty, conditioned, glossy lashes as well.

  • Lip balm.

LipBalm

Whether it’s EOS, Burt’s Bees, or Lip Smacker (their Dr. Pepper lip balm is my all-time fave!) lip balm is an absolute must for any nighttime beauty routine. Put a little on after brushing your teeth. You’ll go to bed with a pretty pout and wake up with extra-soft lips.

Hot picks: Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip BalmEOS Lemon Drop Lip Balm, Burt’s Bees Passion Fruit Lip Balm, Bonne Bell Lip Smacker Dr. Pepper Lip Gloss, Fresh Sugar Lip Polish.

  • Light-reflecting moisturizer OR facial oil.

moisturizers

Okay guys–this one is the biggie. If there’s anything that can make you look fresh and pretty at night AND do something wonderful for your skin, it’s a great moisturizer or facial oil. Both products reflect light, giving you an instant, fabulous, lit-from-within glow. I think of these expensive products as an investment in my skin: an improvement in tone, texture, and other little issues that always seem to arise once a month is worth the spendy price tag. Plus, the more you pamper and care for your skin, the less need you’ll have for makeup – day or night. Basically a win-win.

Hot picks: Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil, MAC Lightful Essence Serum, NARS Skin Luminous Moisture Cream, Lancome Absolute Night Recovery Cream.

  • Silk pillowcases + a cute scrunchie.

Hair

Want to maintain that blowout of yours, thwart tangles, or just keep that mane out of your face? Get on the scrunchie and silk pillowcase train immediately! There’s a reason silk pillowcases continually pop up on “beauty hacks” lists–they’re the best. Not only do they help to keep your hairstyle intact and provide a safe zone for your delicate tresses, but they also totally mitigate the risk of waking up with a lovely “pillow crease” line on your face the next morning. And the scrunchie? Only the gentlest way to tie your hair back, of course. Oh, and If you’re totally scrunchie averse, chic little ribbon hair ties are a great alternative.

Hot picks: Spasilk 100% Silky Satin Hair Beauty Pillowcases, American Apparel Velour Scrunchie, American Eagle AEO Hair Tie Set, Kenz Laurenz No Crease Hair Tie 20-Pack.

…Beauty sleep personified.

xx,

Liza
