Have you ever been in one of those moods where you just want to GET something? That was me this morning. From a pair of flashy new yoga pants to shiny new Nikes, I wanted something fun, fit, and most importantly *new* to treat myself to.
Since the Tone It Up Bikini Series and CHAARG’s Bootycamp finished up in the last months, finding and staying motivated have been a bit more of a challenge for me. Don’t get me wrong–I’m super dedicated to (and in love with!) Kayla Itsines’ Bikini Body Guide, but there’s something about a challenge, camp, or series that really keeps me committed to a healthy balance, and fully on track with my nutrition. I’m not going to be participating in another challenge for at least another few weeks (my older sister and I are strongly considering doing a Whole30 this September- stay tuned!) so treating myself to a little something-something in the health/wellness/fitness sphere was an obvious–albeit subconscious–attempt to boost my motivation. Plus, I straight-up LOVE to shop. Shop and work out. There could be worse addictions, right? The ideal combination: mall walking. Rack up some endorphins and maybe score a couple of purchases.
But then something annoying happened: I couldn’t find anything I actually wanted to get. Enter: magazines! Though I’m pretty much constantly consuming and absorbing information, between my iMac, iPhone, and iPad, printed words aren’t getting much eye action. Really, the only time I read mags now is on a plane, on the beach, or in waiting rooms, so minus the latter, my association with glossies is already incredibly positive. Beach/vaycay vibes AND a new info source? Sold. Magazines totally feel like a treat!
I picked up the latest issues of Women’s Health, Shape, and People Style Watch, and am planning to spend the rest of my Sunday in the best way I can imagine: magazine + treadmill (what’s up, LISS?!) magazine + bubble bath, and magazine + sweatpants.
Simple, relaxed, unplugged, perfection.
